Have you all seen the paid adds generated to promote Lovable? The fees are premium and the product is as good as the idea it is born of.
It starts with how the product solved a problem thanks to a person who came up with the “brilliant idea”, but the catch is that they did not need coding to solve it. The smart person will take a step back and think to themselves: is this not how teams work? When you pitch for funding at early-stage incubators, each member of the team has their own expertise that led to the product.
Now, with AI-generated websites, each person can work on their own to create a product or come up with ideas. This cuts down on the conversations and interactions to get to the same product with a better or worse quality, if we believe AI is better or worse then the human touch. In Giovanni’s words, “a cost line and a product feature can be the same person, priced differently”. A human, with no real value, is expendable.
This implies that with the inclusion of AI in workflows, the right humans will be sold as an experience at a premium. Just as we now charge more for organic food, spring water, hot springs, and fresh air, “the human tier is differentiable, brandable, and priced on willingness to pay”. In this way, most of us have become “a part of the product” as opposed to an “interface to the service”.
Even influencers have become replaceable with AI-generated videos that can be used to sell a brand with the right story. So, the question is: how do humans retain their market value? Is morality the guiding factor? Or, is this the beginning of the end of human evolution and technological progress? From libraries to internet archives, blogs, informative youtube videos, or shortform instagram reels, we had seen it all within the last century. From finding information ourselves to being led to it, we have a reached an exponential plateau.
* The credit for the title and the inspiration of this post is Mr. Giovanni Foglietta, who wrote an excellent post on The Human Premium. I could not – in good conscious – copy his entire title; hence, the slight edit. Those em dashes are mine. I did not use generative AI to create or edit post.
** Comment below. How do you retain your market value when you do have the time to see what is on the market or to engage with other humans on this market?
